Heck, a lot has happened this year. A lot of water has gone under the bridge, and well, let’s face it, is still going under the bridge… So, what if you’ve been a tad railroaded by these events or are feeling off track with what you wanted to have happen this year? Or just a bit off-track with yourself?
We’ve just passed solstice and segued into the second half of the year and there’s actually a whole half a year in front of you to still carve out what’s important to you. There’s time and space to get back in the driver’s seat and course-correct where needed. Or create a new vision for your life this year.
Things may have changed for you work-wise or at home in any number of ways, and it might be time to step back and let yourself ask What do I really want to do with my time? What would really be ‘on purpose’ for me? What do I need for my own wellbeing right now?
I might add that it’s also not a race to the finish line of the end of the year to suddenly get your goals done and tick everything off. That’s not the point here. Life is not a sprint, and there’s no reason to put pressure on yourself to make something happen by December. BUT, it’s all too easy to keep soldiering on through the year and not quite get around to realigning with what matters to you, and then feel pretty frustrated in December that life is not shaping up quite how you’d intended.
We’re also all a bit tired. It’s definitely time to stop and take stock of what you need right now to feel nourished on all levels of self.
So, I’d like to offer you a bunch of resources here for reviewing your goals and what’s important to you, and for some fresh thinking about what’s possible…
The Life Review Kit
Did you complete a Life Review Kit earlier this year? If you did, this can be ideal an ideal time to return back to it now to see where you’re at. You could complete it again now – reflecting on the last six months and then visioning ahead for the next six.
If you’re new to the Kit, it’s a downloadable PDF with a four step process to walk through around reviewing your year (or in this case, the past six months), exploring what’s important about you and your life, creating your vision for your life and who you want to be, and setting out some simple actions to start making that happen. It provides you with just enough structure to do some useful reflecting on you, your life and your values.

A word on wellbeing: if you don’t already have some time off planned in the coming month or two, I really encourage you do so. A lot of people are running themselves rather thin right now, but if you can take a break and replenish BEFORE you really need it, you tend to come back MORE refreshed and your energy levels physically, emotionally and mentally are better overall.
